When many of us sit around the Thanksgiving table this year, we will talk about the many things in life for which we are thankful: our family, our friends, our health, and even our financial situation.
You may not be surprised to know that showing gratitude is good for our well-being. It makes us happier, better people.
Last year, a pair of psychologists, one from the University of Miami, split a group of people into three smaller groups. For 10 weeks, one wrote down the things they were grateful for; another group noted the things that irritated them each week, and a third group simply noted things that affected them in some way—good or bad. The scientists’ study concluded that the people who wrote down thoughts of gratitude felt more optimistic about their lives and their futures. (They also tended to be in better physical shape.)
So, what are you thankful for in 2022?
At Tropical Financial, we are grateful for being able to assist our member/owners in achieving their financial goals each day and every day. Educating them on important financial topics and guiding them with sound advice is our mission. We are equally grateful for the opportunity to help our community. That, too, is in our DNA.
So, with the holidays upon us, we want to share with you the many ways we are giving back with the help of our employees and members.
At Tropical Financial, a group of employee volunteers known as TCAT, research and suggest which charities and events to support throughout the year. An emphasis is put on those charities where employees and members can personally get involved.
This year, we participated and sponsored several great events including the annual Walk For the Animals in Broward County, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk at Nova University, and the Susan G. Komen Walk in Hialeah in support of eradicating breast cancer.
The holiday season is always a great time to show gratitude. Giving back, though, is something we focus on 365 days of the year. If you have something you are particularly grateful for this year, visit us on Facebook and let us know what it is.
