This page is designed to provide TFCU members up-to-date information regarding disaster relief efforts. As hurricane season is a threat until November 30th, please review the below resources available to members.
Hurricane Season
Hurricane season in South Florida starts June 1st and ends November 30th. During that time we will provide updates on any potential storms to ensure our members are informed. To help prepare for/during the season please review tips from our experts here and additional resources from our Balance partner here.
Hurricane Preparedness
Everyone has been affected by hurricanes differently. As hurricane season continues here are recommendations to keep you, and any belongings that have been unaffected, safe.
Important Information - Phishing: If you experience a phishing technique whereby someone is imitating employees of Tropical telling members they are fraud analysts verifying suspicious activity. Although it’s true we will call when there is suspicious card activity, BUT we will NEVER ask you for your PIN or any part of your card number. Beware of spoofed Tropical phone numbers.
If we are alerted to suspicious activity we will contact you but only to ask about your recent transactions, we will NOT request personal information from you. You should never give out ANY part of your card number, or any part of your social security number, or any of your debit/credit card PIN(s) to anyone unless you initiated the call.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately and email our Card Services Department at cardservices@tfcu-fl.org or call us at 888-261-8328.
Unfortunately, we know from past experience that scammers use times of crisis and fear to take advantage of consumers. However, we are here to protect you during these difficult times.
Important Reminder: Tropical Financial representatives will never call you and ask you to give your personal information such as account number or social security number over the phone. Unless you call us, if you are receiving these types of questions, it is probably fraud.
