    • Do I have to be a member to apply for a TFCU mortgage?

      Membership is not required to get pre-qualified or apply for a mortgage with TFCU. If approved for a mortgage with a TFCU, membership will then be required, but handled by your mortgage processor so you can sit back and relax. 

    • What is the difference between being pre-qualified and approved?

      The difference in being pre-qualified and approved is the order within the loan process. Borrowers may want to get pre-qualified to get an idea of an amount they would approved for.

      Our MLO’s complete a thorough pre-qualification that does include reviewing income, asset and credit documents so that you as a home buyer have a very good pre-qualification for a loan with Tropical, which can be given to the seller

      Once pre-qualified borrowers can begin an approval that involves verifying credit, down payment and submitting important loan documents. Getting approved helps to speed up the mortgage process.
